Auctions have been around for many years and even before supermarkets and stores, one of the most popular means of getting rid of items was to auction them off to the highest bidder. How can I identify Chevy Vortec heads if I am out in a wrecking yard?
The easiest was to identify the Vortec heads is the intake bolt holes. They have a unique intake manifold bolt pattern. They only use 8 bolts instead of the usual 12 for a small block Chevy and all the bolt holes are drilled vertically instead of at an angle. They also have a "sawtooth" pattern casting mark on the accessory end of the head that looks like 3 triangles.
